Derek McKenzie Fly Fishing Outfitters - Mystic Fly Rods Coming January 2012

Mystic Fly Rods in Single Hand Saltwater or Switch Fly Rod Models

We are pleased to announce that we have been chosen as the exclusive distributor for Mystic Fly Rods both in Australia and New Zealand.  We believe that Mystic Fly Rods are amongst the best fly rods available on the market today and will be updating these pages very soon with all the details and photos of these fine rods.  We are sure you will agree with us and choose a Mystic as your next fly rod.

Here is what Mystic Fly Rods has to say then we will follow on with just a few of the shoot-outs and reviews that have brought recognition to Mystic around the world.  You simply won't find a better or more innovative fly rod.

Dennis Klein,  Owner of Mystic Fly Rods - A fly rod first needs to make a great cast whether it's an overhand cast, roll cast, spey cast, reach cast etc. At the same time, the rod should of course fight the fish well once hooked. It needs to be durable and should look aesthetically pleasing. Therefore a great fly rod does everything to peak performance. Designing such a rod requires fishing experience coupled with engineering and scientific know-how along with a little flair for the arts. Mystic designs and owns all of it's own mandrels and each rod is hand crafted in the USA using our own blanks and what we believe are the best components available today.

Mystic Fly Rods Wins Fly Fish Ohio's Great 2009 2wt. Rod Shoot-Out - It's vital to recognize that a 5 rating means a fly rod is absolutely outstanding! As good as it gets! Regardless of price, this is a product that epitomizes performance. In this review we've found six fly rods that scored 4.0 or better. These are the best we've found and are certainly some of the very best available at any price! The Mystic M273-2 captured the imagination and respect of everyone who cast it with an amazing composite score of 4.45 and is the winner of the Great 2009 2-Weight Shoot-Out!  Read the results of the shoot-out...→

MidCurrent Review, Mystic Tremor Saltwater Fly Rod by Robert Morselli - Mystic fly rods have been in development for several years, but they’ve only been available since 2007. In the short time since then, Mystic Outdoors LLC has earned its rightful place among the big boys. The company owners are obsessive about their small stable of products and a quick glance tells you Mystic’s Tremor saltwater rods are premium fishing instruments. Standard rod specs include a hi-gloss sapphire blue finish, multi-density cork end piece, salt-resistant reel-seat that sports rubber 0-rings on the up-locks, titanium quad leg steel stripper guides with matching blue ceramic inserts and colour-matched wrappings.  The Tremor rod blank is calibrated to have wide appeal and the rods tested lists at a reasonable $479. The hardware and cosmetics are comparable to anything you’ll see on rods twice the price.  Mystic is a name you’ll hear more and more. We have cast other rods from Mystic and the rods are very pure. They’ve won a lot of “blinded” casting comparisons with the big boys lately, and they will generate more attention as more guides start to use them.  Read the full review...→

Blood Knot Magazine Review, The M-Series by James Robles - Mystic Outdoors croons over the M-series with its “hallmarks of quality,” reasonable price tags, and kind aesthetics; and rightfully so, as this Michigan-based upstart has distinguished itself among big-name contenders. Mystic’s greatest contribution lies in their T3 (Tuned Tip Technology) innovation. Trying to get the best of both worlds, the T3 technology marries a progressive, supple tip section with a super sturdy butt sectionEnhanced tippet sensitivity and hook sets make these rods perfect for handling big fish.
